Why Black And Gold Pendant Lights?

Pendant lights are often used as decorative lighting in homes. They serve the functional purpose of adding light, but also serve a purpose of adding specific design to complement or accentuate the area where they are installed.

Black and gold is the ideal combination of cold and warm tone finishes. The black is such a stark contrast to the gold that every detail in the metallic accents shines through and becomes a focal point.

Black is always classic but can also add a very dark and cool feeling in a space. Adding gold tones allows warmth into a room and keeps it from feeling too harsh.

To be fair, this can translate well with not only gold, but all the warm metallic finishes including brass and copper!

Where And How To Use Black And Gold Pendant Lights

Black and gold can work well in large spaces, as the black can be grounding to the room and the gold adds sparkle and accent pieces.

It can also work well in small spaces, like powder rooms, by adding drama and a high-end appeal.

With black being a classic color that is easy to coordinate with a wide variety of styles and decors, that leaves the gold accent as where the a statement can be made, and the piece is highlighted.

If you’re considering where and how to use black and gold pendant lights it is good to keep in mind that tying together a space with similar finishes can help to keep a room cohesive.

That doesn’t mean all the finishes have to match, but I generally recommend having no more than two finishes in one space. When translating that into a space, if you were planning a kitchen with black faucets and gold cabinets pulls, then a black and gold pendant light could be the perfect fit!

On the other hand, I would be careful not to have oil rubbed bronze cabinet pulls, a brushed nickel faucet and a gold and black pendant light, as that would start to look less intentional and potentially more mismatched.

Choosing The Right Size Black And Gold Pendant Lights

Finding the best size pendant lights really depends on the size of the space where they will be installed.

Of course, the most common place we see these pendant lights installed is in a kitchen.

If you’re planning to install these pendant lights over a kitchen island or peninsula, the easiest way to figure out the right size is by added the length of the countertop in feet, with the width of the countertop in feet.

For instance, if your island was 8 feet long by 4 feet wide, you would add 8+4 and get 12.

That means, 12” would be the ideal size for your pendant light.
